Aadhar arrives in Afghanistan as well, Aadhaar card of citizens being made with the help of India
Afghanistan is trying to make Aadhaar card of its citizens on the lines of India. Just like India had developed a biometric and demographic database of its residents through Aadhar Card a decade ago, Afghanistan wants to adopt this process on the same lines.
A Foreign Ministry official told IANS that a special capacity building program for the Afghanistan Central Civil Registration Authority (ACCRA) was organized by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India and Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) last week.
Afghan officials also visited the UIDAI office in Chandigarh to study in detail about India's Aadhaar initiative. Afghan officials were provided with complete information about Aadhaar card related software, process of birth and death registration of citizens, important data and census methodology.
Afghanistan is a war-torn Islamic republic, surrounded by serious problems such as terrorism, poverty, malnutrition and corruption. The population here is more than 32 million. Under the leadership of President Ashraf Gani, there is a war with Afghanistan's Islamic terrorist organization Taliban. There are terrorist attacks by the Taliban. The US government is negotiating with the Taliban to negotiate a peace deal and to withdraw its army from that country.
President Ghani is trying to increase the capacity of his country in many areas with the cooperation of India. Creating a framework for population registration is one of these major projects. The Foreign Ministry said that a special program of one week was organized for National Statistics and Information Authority Afghanistan in New Delhi in November.
